This blog explores the allure of Upper Mustang National Park and why it should be on every traveler’s bucket list.

A Journey Through Time

Upper Mustang is steeped in history, with its roots tracing back to the ancient Tibetan civilization. The region was once part of the Tibetan empire and later became a separate kingdom, which maintained close cultural and political ties with Tibet. The influence of Tibetan Buddhism is evident in the region’s monasteries, chortens (stupas), and the lifestyle of the people. Visiting Upper Mustang is like stepping into a living museum where centuries-old traditions are still very much alive.

Natural Beauty Beyond Compare

The landscape of Upper Mustang is starkly beautiful and dramatically different from the lush, green valleys typically associated with Nepal. The area is characterized by its arid, desert-like terrain, striking rock formations, and deep gorges. The region lies in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, resulting in a unique topography that is both rugged and mesmerizing. The towering cliffs and colorful rock formations, combined with the expansive skies, create a surreal and breathtaking scenery.
